The myth of progress

In my opinion, the worship that the modern world places on the "Left and Right" political spectrum, showcases the total over-emphasis placed by modern man on the role of economics in his ultimate destiny. Any sense or value of the self is no longer taught, or valued and has been replaced by propriety, any form of economic gain and the desire for short term status.

The irrational faith in the acclumation of wealth and in the progression of technology has replaced the need for any sense of identity and purpose, other than that listed above. Whilst far from supporting any elite or class structure based entirely on wealth, I certainly see Marxism as doing nothing to deal with the real problem, it still ultimately measures the worth and happiness of a people in economic terms. Wealth and technology are still viewed as ends in themselves, rather than means to an end, while the development of identity may resonate with some, it is becoming harder and harder to escape a prision without walls.

Of course the idea of all people being born "Equal and with equal opportunities" is a total absurdity, even if an Egalitarian distribution of wealth and power (On behalf of state) could be achieved, people are simply not born of the same characteristics and spirit for the concept of "Equal Opportunties" to be anything other than a naive fantasy.

Even if the aims of the enviromental left wing were actually extreme enough to really stand a chance of saving the enviroment, the chances of such a government being elected in "Freedumb and Democrazy" are about 0.0000001%. Even if a Eco-Socialist government could be elected, what would their noble vision seriously amount to, other than being removed from office in 4-12 years or so?

Who does Socialism really appeal to? Those who cannot take care of themselves and want someone else to manage their destiny whilst they feast off the resources of the planet, pointlessly consuming more as a carrion bird would devour a corpse? With the flat slate of equality, is it really a wonder that no one seems to know or value their own place in in the modern world? Is it not a problem in itself that many people can no longer take care of themselves?

Whilst many view the Middle Ages as "Barbaric", what could be more barbarous then the methods of warfare that are nowadays employed? I refer to chemical warfare and other methods, which would have once only be used to destroy unwanted animals or viruses.

In the modern world, animals (Aside from those in the Pet catergory), are treated worse than they ever have been, which seems strange for a suposedly enlightened age with "Humane" values. I of course refer to the treatment of livestock, who's mechanized un-natural existence,is a merely a reflection of modern man's life, which is mechanized in every sense of the word and lives an empty existence.
